Still have questions?
Green to Clean St. Petersburg, FL
Few things are more frustrating for homeowners in St. Petersburg, Florida than looking out at their backyard and seeing a pool that has turned green. Algae growth, cloudy water, and poor circulation can transform a once-inviting pool into an unsightly, unusable mess. With our humid climate, heavy rainstorms, and high year-round temperatures, algae blooms can happen faster than you think. That’s why Legion Pools provides professional green pool cleaning in St. Petersburg, restoring even the most neglected pools to crystal-clear condition.
Why Pools Turn Green
Green pools are almost always caused by algae, which thrive in warm, unbalanced water. In St. Petersburg, algae growth accelerates due to high humidity, heavy rains that dilute chemicals, and intense sunshine that burns off chlorine quickly. Poor filtration or circulation, clogged filters, and inconsistent chemical maintenance can make the problem worse. Once algae take hold, it spreads rapidly, turning your pool water from slightly cloudy to dark green in just a few days.
The Risks of a Green Pool
A green pool isn’t just unattractive—it’s unsafe. Algae make surfaces slippery, increasing the risk of falls. Cloudy water hides hazards, making it dangerous for children or pets. Worst of all, algae and bacteria can harbor harmful pathogens that cause skin irritation, ear infections, or gastrointestinal illness. Left untreated, algae can also damage equipment, stain pool surfaces, and clog filters. Prompt professional cleaning is the only way to restore your pool safely and effectively.
The Legion Pools Green-to-Clean Process
At Legion Pools, we use proven methods to transform green pools into clear, safe water again. Our process begins with a full inspection of the pool, water, and equipment to determine the extent of the problem. We then shock the pool with professional-grade chemicals to kill algae and bacteria. Next, we brush walls, floors, and steps to remove growth and loosen stains. We clean and backwash filters to restore proper circulation. Finally, we rebalance water chemistry, ensuring safe pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels. Within days, your pool goes from green and unusable to sparkling and safe for swimming.
